Nigerian Army Detains ISWAP Collaborators In North-East Named By Soldier Who Killed Himself After Arrest
Operatives of the Nigerian military intelligence service have arrested some civilians spying for the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, terrorists in the North-East region.
According to PRNigeria, the civilians, before their arrest, worked together with a soldier who killed himself after military troops discovered he was an ISWAP collaborator.
SaharaReporters had earlier reported that the soldier was arrested for aiding ISWAP terrorists but he later killed himself while being escorted to the barrack.
The soldier, with one of the Battalions of the Nigerian Army in the North-East, was discovered by intelligence operatives, for his involvements in recent attacks on brothels and beer parlours in Gashua and Geidam in Yobe State.
A military intelligence source who confirmed to PRNigeria the arrest of the civilian collaborators, said they are already probing the circumstances surrounding the suicide committed by the “unscrupulous” soldier while being handcuffed after his arrest.
"I can categorically tell you that other bad elements within our security apparatus are being investigated. Right now we have arrested some civilian collaborators he mentioned in his confession during the initial interrogation.
"We shall unravel the circumstance surrounding the seeming fishy suicide and suspicious activities of other suspects," the source said, asking not to be named.
Group Demands Disqualification Of Akwa Ibom Governorship Aspirant, Eno For Violating Electoral Act
A group, Concerned Peoples Democratic Party members, Akwa Ibom State, has asked the screening committee of the party to disqualify Pastor Umo Eno from participating in the forthcoming party’s primary elections over his alleged flagrant violation of the Electoral Act 2022.
The group stated this on Thursday in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the committee obtained by SaharaReporters dated April 27, 2022.
The letter was signed by Mr. James Benson Ekpo.
It was gathered that the PDP Screening Committee for South South Zone presently sitting in Port Harcourt had been under immense pressure to cover up Pastor Umo Eno and clear him accordingly.
The group accused Eno of violating Section 84 (12) and (15) of the Electoral Act 2022 and Section 182 (1) (G) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The letter asked the committee to disqualify Eno for not resigning his appointment as required by the law as he was the director of Ibom Fadama MicroFinance Bank, an institution incorporated by the state government.
The group maintained that the provisions of the electoral act stipulated that anybody contesting in the governorship primary election should resign from office within 30 days.
The letter therefore asked the committee to disqualify him from the exercise before the electoral body be in the know of the information.
The letter read in part " We respectively write to you on the above mentioned subject matter to bring to your notice the fact that Pastor Umo Bassey Eno one of the aspirants of the office of Governor of Akwa Ibom State in the forthcoming primary electio of your great party ( PDP ) is still a serving director of Ibom Fadama MicroFinance Bank as institution incorporated by the Akwa Ibom State government to access funds from federal government through the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN ) for Agricultural purposes.
“It is our humble request that Pastor Umo Bassey Eno should be disqualified from participating in the primary election of the party to avoid our party being sanctioned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when this information get to the commission.”
The screening of the Governorship aspirants of the party kicked off today in the state thereby casting cloud of doubt on the eligibility of Eno over his failure to resign his appointment in violation of the Electoral Act and Party Guidelines.
It will be recalled that Pastor Umo Eno was chosen by Governor Udom Emmanuel as his preferred successor in January 2022 amid protest by many leaders and stakeholders of the party in the state.
Any APC Presidential Aspirant Who Can’t Raise N100million For Nomination Form Is Not A Serious Candidate — National Chairman, Adamu
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has explained why the party's presidential nomination form is pegged at N100million.
The APC had fixed N100million as the cost for its 2023 presidential aspirants to obtain forms. The APC explained that the nomination form would go for N70million while the expression of interest form cost N30million.
The fee was approved at the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party in Abuja.
Those eyeing the governorship ticket would purchase the form at N50million.
However, aspirants under 40 years would get a 50 per cent discount on the fees while women and persons living with disabilities would pay only for the expression of interest forms.
The party had come under attack for pegging the nomination fee at such an exorbitant rate.
But Adamu in an interview with the Voice of America (VOA) Hausa Service on Wednesday said those criticising the APC over the nomination fees are members of the opposition who are trying to give the ruling party a bad name to hang it.
He said the contest for the Nigerian presidency is not a contest of the motor parks union.
“If a presidential aspirant cannot mobilise at least 10,000 supporters to raise such amount; that person is not a serious contestant,” he was quoted him as saying.
“We are talking about the president of Nigeria, not the emir of your town. Now when the emir of your town dies, the person seeking to replace him will spend more than N100million for just one emirate,” Adamu said.
He also said there are so many leadership positions that will cost more than N100million.
“For example, someone who is seeking to be president of Nigeria asked 10,000 of his supporters each to contribute N10,000; how much will that be. If he lacked supporters to contribute, he didn’t deserve to contest. I didn’t want to belittle you because the president of Nigeria is not the chairman of your village motor park.
“If you want to kill a dog, you will give him a bad name, there is nothing to compare between seeking to be Nigeria’s president and corruption using the cost of the form. If you cannot participate, there is no compulsion, if you don’t have N100million, you have no business with becoming president. Tell me which country will not fix reasonable numbers to contest the position of the president? No country that practices democracy like ours will not fix the amount to around N100million; in fact, how much is N100million?”
“Our party has principles, if you can follow the guidelines you can participate. And another thing is our party is the ruling party, if we fix the amount less, the same opposition can sponsor some people to come and participate before you know court cases will arise everywhere. Let’s see if any devil can pay N100m to sponsor some,” he added.
Presidential Ticket: You’re My Friend But I Won’t Work For You – PDP Chairman, Ayu Tells Atiku
The National Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, that though they are friends, he will not work for the vice president.
Ayu, made this known while addressing members of the National Working Committee, (NWC) and the campaign team of the former Vice President after a visit to the party Secretariat on Thursday.
The chairman, who acknowledged the fact that he and Atiku had been close friends for more than 30 years, noted that they were key players in the Social Democratic Party and key players in the emergence of Chief MKO Abiola.
“Let me acknowledge the fact that you and I have been close friends personal friends for more than 30 years as it was indicated, we were key players in the Social Democratic Party and key players in the emergence of Chief MKO Abiola.
“So you are a presidential aspirant today. But I want people to know that you are still my friend. I can’t deny you; I never deny my friends including those who are in the other disastrous party. You know them because even there, we have common friends who miss road, who normally should be here with us.
“More importantly, since we formed this party as you have mentioned, we have worked together in various capacities. It is you and I that plotted the emergence of President Obasanjo. An administration that did very well, putting Nigeria, on a healthy map economically, socially and politically.
“Again, I can’t deny the fact that we work together harmoniously, whether political issues or economic issues and on the National Security Council when I was Minister for internal affairs.
“I’m saying this to make it clear that those who say Oh, because of my personal relationship with you, as chairman, I’ll work for you. Mr. Vice President, I will not work for you as an aspirant. I will work for all the 17 aspirants. It is left to you to convince the delegates of our party that you are the best.
“You have to market yourself, you have to work hard. This National Working Committee for now we remain an umpire. We are not going to take side with any particular aspirants. But we love you all. I’ve said repeatedly that each one of you given the opportunity will run this country better than what APC has done or will be able to do.”
Terrorists Who Attacked Kaduna-Abuja Train Release Photograph Of Newborn Baby From Abducted Pregnant Woman
A female passenger abducted by terrorists during the attack on the Abuja/Kaduna train has been delivered of a baby girl in the terrorists’ den.
The female passenger who was eight months pregnant at the time of the abduction on the 28th of March reportedly birthed a child in the terrorists’ den at the weekend.
The terrorists, according to a report by Tribune shared photos of the baby girl. The picture of the new girl was released, on Wednesday evening, by the terrorist group suspected to be Ansaru, a breakaway group of Boko Haram.
Two days ago, the news of her birth was trending on both social media and the conventional media where a family member of the woman first hinted that she had delivered at the weekend.
The identity of the newly born child was not disclosed until Wednesday when the terrorists released the picture of the baby girl.
A relation of the female passenger who pleaded for anonymity had said in an interview that the new mother was among the two pregnant women kidnapped.
“They contacted us and broke the news to us that she gave birth at the weekend, even though they did not tell us whether it was a boy or a girl,” the family member said.

Interpol, Kenya Government Probe Two Nigerian Financial Tech Tycoons, Demuren, Nehikhare Over Suspicious Transfer Of N128 Billion From Nigeria
INTERPOL
Two Nigerian Fintech tycoons, Eghosasere Nehikhare and Bukunmi Olufemi Demuren, and another Nigerian, are under probe in Kenya for a string of suspicious transfers of $221 million (N128 billion) from Nigeria.
In local currency, the money is worth Kenya Sh25 billion.
INTERPOL
Nehikhare is the founder of Boltpay, while Demuren is the founder of Multigate Limited.
Interpol seeks to unravel the puzzle of Sh25bn ‘laundered’ from Nigeria, Kenya’s Nation Newspaper reports.
Investigations reveal that money was wired into Kenya from Nigeria between October and November 2020.
For more than two months, Kenyan authorities have been investigating the string of cash transfers from Nigeria without realising that they may hold the key to unlocking the whereabouts of Sh20 billion at the centre of local and international suspected money laundering rings.
A source privy to the matter has since confidentially disclosed that three Nigerians suspected to enjoy the backing of a powerful Kenyan politician and two Kenyans wired the cash in US dollars and Euros to Kenyan banks through multiple companies registered locally with shared ownership and suspect addresses.
Court papers indicate that the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA), which is investigating three companies over Sh5.6 billion — a quarter of the actual amount that entered Kenya — does not know the magnitude of its probe.
On April 5, ARA obtained court orders freezing Sh5.6 billion in six bank accounts, but its investigators are unaware that the network of firms and individuals had moved another Sh20 billion through local lenders in one month in 2020.
An ARA officer on Tuesday confirmed that the agency was only aware of the Sh5.6 billion frozen; it has no details of an Interpol investigation first revealed by Business Daily.
The local daily on Tuesday revealed that a network of six firms — OIT Africa, Avalon Offshore Logistics, RemX Capital Ltd, RemX Ltd, RemX Investment Partners and Multigate Ltd — moved Sh25.6 billion from Nigeria to Kenya before wiring some of the funds to countries in Europe and Asia.
Despite confirming that ARA has yet to interrogate shareholders of the companies, the officer insisted that its investigations are ongoing and could see some of the suspects charged with money laundering and other economic crimes.
The source of the funds has puzzled local and international sleuths, who are trying to find the origin.
The Nation established that Interpol’s investigation hit a brick wall, as it would need to cooperate with Kenyan and Nigerian authorities to determine when, how and why Sh25.6 billion was moved between the two countries.
The information sought by Interpol would require obtaining bank statements of all accounts where the suspect loot was stashed or moved from.
ARA’s lack of knowledge of the actual amount moved to Kenya in 2020 indicates that there is no cooperation with the agency and Interpol.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti did not respond to queries on whether his agency was investigating the suspected money laundering racket.
Two Nigerian financial technology tycoons with a history of using tax havens to avoid taxes are at the centre of investigations by ARA and Interpol. Boltpay founder Eghosasere Nehikhare and Multigate Limited founder Olubukunmi Olufemi Demuren could have started the global movement of billions from Lagos, ownership documents from the Companies’ Registry in Kenya show.
Mr Nehikhare is a graduate of the University of Oxford in the UK and is the CEO of Multigate Ltd, while Mr Demuren earned a chemical engineering degree from Cooper Union University in the US. Mr Demuren is the board chairman of Multigate Ltd.
Mutligate and RemX are among companies registered in Kenya, Dubai and Nigeria and which are at the heart of the money transfers.
So far, Kenyan authorities have traced and frozen Sh5.6 billion, pending conclusion of the investigations. The money is in six bank accounts owned by three companies.
However, investigators have so far frozen accounts of three firms — Avalon Offshore Logistics Limited, Oit Africa Limited and RemX Capital Limited. They are the owners of the accounts deposited with the money.
Two bank accounts of Avalon Offshore Logistics Limited held at Equity Bank are holding $374,630 (Sh43,408,490) and €3,824.66 (Sh472,809), suspected to be proceeds of crime.
OIT Africa’s three bank accounts held at Equity and United Bank for Africa (UBA) are holding a total of $41,715,444 (Sh4,833,568,496), while Remix’s account at UBA is holding $6,648,838 (Sh770,400,859).
ARA, in court papers, claims the money was wired to six accounts held at Equity Bank and United Bank of Africa (UBA).
Through Principal State Counsel Mohamed Adow, the agency says the amounts were a culmination of suspicious credits from various suspicious sources and conducted suspicious transfers and withdrawals.
ARA says that on February 11, it received information on suspected money laundering schemes and acquisition of proceeds of crime involving multiple cash transactions conducted through the bank accounts of the three companies.
The money was from a foreign country and the source has no legitimate explanation involving the companies and their agents.
“The companies are suspected to be part of a syndicate involved in a complex money-laundering scheme involving themselves and foreign nationals.
“The bank accounts of the companies are used as a conduit for complex money laundering,” says ARA.
The preservation order Justice Esther Maina issued bars the three firms, their employees, agents, servants or any other persons acting on their behalf from transacting, withdrawing, transferring or dealing in any manner howsoever with any profits or benefits derived or accrued from the funds.
A search at the Registrar of Companies revealed that RemX Capital directors are John Kisilu Kamusina and Evalyne Wawira Gachoki.
Avalon Offshore directors are Nigerians Jeffrey Nnaoma Michaels and Uduma Okoro Christopher Kalu.
OIT Africa directors are Vionnah Akoth Odongo and Kenneth Odongo Raminya. Multigate Limited directors are Olubunmi Akinbanjo Akinyemiju, Nehikhare Eghosasere and Demuren Olufemi Olukunmi.
UK Companies Lament Shortage Of Workers
Firms in the United Kingdom are facing difficulties to recruit staff, according to new research by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).
The data for the leading business group’s Quarterly Recruitment Outlook survey for Q1 2022 was drawn from a survey of 5,500 businesses.
According to the report which was quoted by Cumbria Times, attempted recruitment in the first quarter was down slightly with 60% looking to recruit staff (64% in Q4 2021).
The hospitality sector was facing the most challenging recruitment issues, closely followed by construction and the manufacturing industry.
Retail and wholesale firms were the least likely to report difficulties but the proportions of firms that cannot find the staff they need remains worryingly high, the report said.
The firms surveyed highlighted issues responsible for the difficulty to include: disruption due to COVID and a drop in the availability of foreign staff. Others also complained of wage competition which they said is proving disruptive.
A medium-sized professional services firm in Shropshire noted, “We are finding it difficult to recruit all levels of staff. Applicants are able to choose between several employers as we are all chasing the same people. They feel we are on the edge of the Midlands but still expect Wolverhampton/Birmingham salaries.”
A micro hospitality firm in Scotland said: “We are prepared to pay more for the right people, but there just seems to be no one to employ. If we cannot get staff our service slips drastically because we don't have enough people to serve our customers.”
Responding to the findings, Head of People Policy at the British Chambers of Commerce, Jane Gratton said:
“It’s now harder than ever for businesses to fill job vacancies and there are no signs of improvement. In an increasingly tight labour market, competition for skills is ramping up wage costs, leaving many firms unable to recruit the people they need.
“When combined with the escalating price of energy, shipping, raw materials and other costs, it is a precarious situation for businesses. Inevitably, it is the smaller firms, with little in the way of cash reserves after two years of the pandemic, who are most exposed to the risk all this presents.
“The UK government needs to take concrete action to address labour shortages as they are a key factor in the economy’s stuttering recovery. If firms cannot get the people they need, then productivity and revenue are two of the first casualties.
“Government must also ensure that people can access rapid retraining opportunities for in-demand jobs at all skill levels in the workforce. At the same time, where there is clear evidence of national shortages damaging the economy, we need temporary visas for hard working people willing to come to the UK to work in the essential everyday roles that we all rely on.
“Businesses are investing more in developing homegrown talent - and creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce – but this won’t solve pervasive skills shortages overnight. Right now, the priority has to be to improve access to skills and ease the wider cost pressures facing the business.”

Court Declines Bail To Co-defendant Of Disgraced DCP Abba Kyari, Adjourns Case To May 26
A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a bail application filed by an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bawa James, one of the co-defendants of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.
In a ruling on Thursday, Justice Emeka Nwite held that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) had given reasons why the court should not admit James to a bail.
Justice Nwite said James was a flight risk and might jump bail. The judge subsequently refused to grant James bail and adjourned the matter until May 26.
Kyari faces a trial on charges of illegal dealing in cocaine, alongside the extradition proceedings filed against him based on the U.S. government’s request to Nigeria to surrender him for trial in California.
While he was on suspension over his indictment for fraud by the U.S. government last year, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested him in February, and subsequently charged him and six others, including four members of his former police unit, with illegal dealing in cocaine.
Both the criminal trial on narcotic offences and extradition hearing are taking place separately before two judges of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
At its current pace, the extradition hearing, hobbled by the country’s unwieldy judicial process, is unlikely to end before October when the trial in the U.S is expected to start.
Yet Kyari reserves the right to appeal up to the Supreme Court even if the court orders his extradition at the end of the ongoing proceedings.
This makes the future of the extradition process uncertain, even as the trial court has recently ordered his continued detention pending the conclusion of the cocaine-trafficking trial.
Lawyers also say Kyari’s ongoing trial on cocaine-related charges may scuttle the prospect of the extradition proceedings because of section 3 (6) of Nigeria’s Extradition Act.
The provision, according to lawyers, exempts a suspect standing trial in Nigeria from being extradited to a foreign country until the conclusion of the Nigerian trial or the conclusion of a prison sentence.
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had ordered the remand of Kyari, and six others facing drug trafficking charges with him, to the Kuje Correctional Centre.
The presiding judge, Justice Nwite ordered the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, to transfer the defendants to prison custody, shortly after he denied them bail.
The suspended DCP was arraigned alongside Sunday J Ubia, Bawa James, Simon Agirigba and John Nuhu who are members of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
Other defendants in the charge marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022, are two drug traffickers who were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwane.
Pastor RUGA Osinbajo And Sermon Of N250,000 Bribery To Delegates By Bayo Oluwasanmi
For the umpteenth time, let me state that I don’t believe in one Nigeria. I don’t believe in the 2023 presidential elections. The election will produce a president from the rank of thieves who destroyed Nigeria. I believe dissolution is the answer and not elections.
Nigerian democracy has morphed from a Democracy of People into a Democracy of Naira. Pay-to-play is the pathology at the centre of Nigeria’s undemocratic democracy. Pastor RUGA Yemi Osinbajo has turned the APC primaries into an auction clearinghouse that sells delegates’ votes to the highest bidder.
According to SaharaReporters on April 22, 2022, “Some presidential delegates of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the South-West on Friday went home with N250,000 each after attending a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Ibadan, Oyo State.”
“This was what we were giving by Osinbajo today,” a delegate said while showing the money packaged in an envelope,” reports SaharaReporters.
SaharaReporters Media
Integrity is one of the most important leadership qualities that commits a politician to a cause for a necessary admirable political conduct. Pastor RUGA seeks power either because it satiates his vanity, or he’s using it for his ends. He’s not in for the people as he claims, but for himself. Pastor RUGA’s action lacks integrity and provokes distrust and cynicism about his character. As a pastor, bribing delegates corrupts his discipleship by injecting illicit and criminal money in order to win APC ticket. His anointing portrays him as a hypocrite and a weak-willed pastor.
Pastor RUGA Osinbajo, like his boss in the Aso Rock, Muhammadu Buhari, represents the degradation of trust, integrity, and honesty. Pastor RUGA’s sermon on N250,000 bribery to delegates is an indication that Osinbajo is not different from other aspirant looters from APC and PDP.
Nigeria is doomed!

Members of the Ilana Omo Oodua, the umbrella body for Yoruba Self-Determination and Self-Preservation groups, stormed the premises of the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, on Thursday as a hearing into the lawsuit challenging the validity of the 1999 constitution to hold an election, commences.
Ilana Omo Oodua, last month filed a lawsuit against the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The lawsuit, instituted by Prof Banji Akintoye, his Deputy, Prof Wale Adeniran, Chief Bayo Orire and 15 others, was filed on behalf of the activists by their lawyer, Tolu Babaleye, before the Federal High Courts in Ado-Ekiti and Osogbo.
The suit seeks a declaration that the current 1999 Constitution of Nigeria is illegal, invalid and of no effect ‘because no referendum was conducted before it was enacted’.
It further demands a total decommissioning of the 1999 constitution of Nigeria to pave way for a referendum so that the indigenous people of Yoruba land can decide on their nationhood, first and foremost.
Meanwhile, at the hearing of the case on Thursday, the defendants in the case, Malami and INEC were absent and neither did they send legal representatives, according to a statement by Maxwell Adeleye, the Ilana Omo Oodua spokesperson.
The Plaintiffs were represented by a former National President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Olasupo Ojo, Babaleye and three others.
The Presiding Judge, Justice Babs Olaniyi Kuewumi adjourned the case to May 11, 2022 to enable the defence team to file their response.
The Ilana Omo Oodua is demanding that "Whether by virtue of the Preamble to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended) which says: “WE THE PEOPLE of the Federal Republic of Nigeria HAVING firmly and solemnly resolved to live in unity and harmony as one indivisible and indissoluble sovereign Nation under God dedicated to the promotion of inter-African solidarity, world peace, international cooperation and understanding: AND TO PROVIDE for a Constitution for the purpose of promoting the good government and welfare of all persons in our country on the principle of Freedom, Equity and Justice, and for the purpose of consolidating the unity of our people do hereby make and give to ourselves the following constitution” without having a "Referendum" which absolutely is an essential part in the process of making a Constitution, the said 1999 Constitution (as Amended) is illegal, invalid and of no effect whatsoever for failing to meet an essential requirement to be qualified as a valid Constitution”.
Therefore, in the event that the above sole issue is resolved in the positive affirmation, the Claimants pray the Court for the following reliefs:
"A Declaration that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as Amended) is invalid, illegal and of no effect whatsoever by reason of its failure to satisfy the essential requirements of a referendum and national consensus expected of a valid Constitution.
"A Declaration that the preamble/introductory passage to the 1999 Constitution inserted into the Constitution by the Military Government which says “we the people of Nigeria have resolved to give ourselves a Constitution” is a lie when in the actual fact it was the Military Government that came up with the document and imposed it on the Nigerian people without any contribution from the Nigerian people; it has therefore rendered the Constitution illegal, invalid and null and void and of no effect on the ground of naked lie fraud.
"A Declaration that no valid elections whether Presidential, Governorship, National and State Assembly or Councillorship elections can be validly held under the said invalid and fraudulent Constitution as one cannot build something on nothing in law and expect it to stand.
"A Declaration that the forthcoming Ekiti State Governorship election which is scheduled to be conducted in June 2022 by the INEC cannot be validly held under the said illegal and invalid 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
"An Order of this Honourable Court stopping the holding of the scheduled Ekiti State Governorship election coming up in June 2022 from being held as there is no valid legal framework for such an exercise because the 1999 Constitution (As Amended) under which the said Governorship election is planned to be conducted is illegal, invalid and inherently defective.
"An Order of this Honourable Court directing the Defendants jointly and severally to stay clear of Ekiti in June 2022 and suspend with immediate effect the plans and arrangements they have put in place to conduct such an illegal election in Ekiti State of Nigeria.”
The Coordinator of IOOW in Ekiti State, Pastor Ayodele Praise, urged all Yoruba people to be part of the history that the Banji Akintoye-led group wants to make, stating that if the orders being sought are granted by the court, the redemption of Yoruba land from the shackles of economic degradation and opprobrium is nearer.
Recall that in December 2021, Prof Akintoye said there would not be any governorship election in any part of Yoruba land in 2022.
This was despite preparations by the Independent National Electoral Commission to hold governorship elections in the two South-West states of Ekiti and Osun in 2022.

Abubakar Malami
Nigeria's Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has formally declared interest in the Kebbi State governorship race.
He declared for the seat on Thursday on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abubakar Malami
According to him, he declared after finally accepting the calls of the people to become governor.
In 2020, a series of detailed investigations carried out by SaharaReporters showed that Malami had acquired several properties whose value run into many billions of naira since being appointed into the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s chief law officer.

For example, the AGF has an underground hotel in Sokoto, three houses at Peace Estate, Abuja, a new state-of-the-art school in Kebbi, two houses for his sons worth N100 million each and a new hotel under construction in the Jabi area of Abuja.
Malami also recently bought a house worth N150m in the Gwarimpa area of Abuja.
The newly constructed school is located at the back of NITEL in Gesse Phase 1, Birnin Kebbi, while a new house worth N600 million on Ahmadu Bello Way, Nasarawa GRA, Kano, are among properties acquired by Malami since he became a minister under President Buhari.
The houses he built for his sons in Kebbi are 200 metres apart in a posh part of the city.

That is not all. Malami also built N3 billion multipurpose event centre in Kebbi State named Azbir Arena for his son in Kebbi.
The facility is said to be an entertainment centre with a plaza, a kids’ playing section and a hotel, all in one place.
This is apart from Rayhaan Hotel located on Zaria Road, opposite Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, which the AGF massively upgraded through unexplained wealth.
Ever since SaharaReporters published a series of detailed reports exposing these illicit acquisitions, the online news medium has been a target for the AGF’s camp.
Apart from falsely claiming to have sued SaharaReporters over the expository reports he said had damaged his reputation before the world, Malami also issued a petition to the former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on the issue to arrest the publisher of the online newspaper, Omoyele Sowore.

Despite the open display of unexplained wealth by the AGF and members of his family, President Buhari, who rode to power in 2015 on the back of a promise to crush corruption, especially in the government circle, has yet to offer any statement on the development.
Observers say Buhari’s silence is an endorsement of the atrocities of one of his most trusted lieutenants, Malami.

What History Says About How Buhari’s Successor Will Emerge, By Azu Ishiekwene
I think the most frequently asked question today is, who will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari? With over 35 aspirants openly declaring their interest as of today, a few still in the closet and more coming out, the field has never looked more crowded.
And last week, the decision by former President Goodluck Jonathan to put one leg in the ring, while pretending that he is being dragged, got party and non-party members even more confused.
Of course, those who are pressing him into the race - Governor of Yobe State and former All Progressives Congress (APC) interim Chairman, Mai Mala Buni; Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and a few ministers from the North - wish it would happen. But they know it won’t. Buni once led a delegation to Jonathan, to explore the possibility of the former president running with the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as his running mate.
The strongest consideration is the potential four-year one-term limit of another Jonathan presidency. But the trap is that post-election litigation over the 2017 constitutional amendment on “swearing-in”, could disqualify Jonathan and hand the position over to his running mate if he wins.
After the visit, Jonathan asked for time to consult. It was, however, clear from the criticism that followed that decamping from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and running on the ticket of the APC was a bridge too far.
Even if the APC were to grant the entry waiver, which Jonathan requested, he would still have to face the party primaries. And more importantly, the APC will have to convince its members, and perhaps the larger public, that the same man it branded ‘Jonathan the Incompetent’ and ‘Jonathan the Clueless’ has now become Jonathan the Messiah.
The renewed buzz about a potential Jonathan comeback, suggests that some elements in the APC still think that they can lead their party back to its vomit. And yet, they don’t think it’s an act of desperation. A number of insiders told me this week that nothing other than a desire to find someone who can preserve Buhari’s legacy is tempting the APC back to Jonathan. They obviously can’t imagine that the public will ask the APC, what legacy?
The noise about a possible Jonathan return and concerns that it could be disastrous for other aspirants may be good political gossip, but it’s a waste of time. Jonathan will not return unless the 18 registered political parties adopt him as their candidate and the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, agrees to write the presidential election result and personally deliver the certificate of return to him in Otuoke.
From his time as deputy governor to his tenure as Vice President, Jonathan has become so used to a life of ease, and well, good luck, that no matter how hard he tries, he can’t bring himself into this contest except the ducks are lined up for him in a row. Jonathan being Jonathan, unless the elements align again and fall on his lap, which is as likely as the appearance of a blue moon, he won’t try for it.
But history, that is, the history of the two major political parties could at least give us an idea of who in the APC might get it. There are teachable moments in the journeys of three former candidates - Olusegun Obasanjo, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Buhari - that could provide an insight into how the candidates in the major parties would emerge.
One, there is something in the DNA of the power brokers that resents big political spenders. Although figures are hard to come by, anecdotal evidence suggests that MKO Abiola was probably one of the biggest pre-election spenders in the last three and a half decades. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar could also be in the league, but more so because of his repeat races. Abiola, a multi-billionaire friend of the rich and powerful and candidate of the Social Democratic Party (PDP), ran a campaign that was colourful and massively funded.
His wealth was not only a source of envy, it was also a source of fear and resentment among the military elite who couldn’t bring themselves to hand over political power to a man who seemed to have it all.
If the political transition under military President Ibrahim Babangida was an attempt to depart from the unspoken tradition of not handing over power to candidates who are both rich and politically influential, the power brokers took the lessons from the Abiola misadventure to heart.
From Obasanjo to Yar’Adua and Buhari, three candidates who emerged between 1999 and 2014, not one, at least as far as the public knew, could fund their own party primaries, much less their election campaigns.
Obasanjo was broke when he left prison in 1998. His sprawling farm business was in ruins. He couldn’t rehabilitate his chicken coop much less fund the primaries of the PDP. Neither Yar’Adua nor Buhari was significantly better off financially. The party primaries and campaigns of all three were funded by interest groups that dragged them into the race.
This appearance of inadequacy, a sort of political crutch if you like, is the IOU that ensures that at least in form, if not substance, the interest groups can maintain leverage on the candidate.
Two, the main parties would also be looking for political orphans - or at least those with a form of political naivety; that is, candidates who do not appear threatening, politically. All the talk about national interest is nonsense. If the candidate is from the South East, for example, “national interest” means a public repudiation of the Biafra separatist agenda and disavowal of IPOB.
If he is from the South West, it means rejection of “Amotekun”, state police, or restructuring. And if, at this time, he is from the North - that is anywhere outside the North West - national interest will depend on whether is he Christian or Muslim. Of course, for all regions, religion has increasingly become a dominant issue in the last 30 years.
Nothing illustrates the obsession of the cabal with political control more than the story of the failed presidential ambition of former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili. Just like Rotimi Amaechi did for Buhari in 2014, Odili put the treasury of the state at the disposal of the third term ambition of Obasanjo, under the notion that if it failed, he would benefit.
The accounts of this gamble in three books - Obasanjo’s My Watch; Peter Odili’s Conscience and History - My Story; Chidi Odinkalu’s and Aisha Osori’s Too Good to Die; and Nasir El-Rufai’s 2009 essay on Umaru Yar’Adua, suggest that Odili was a front-runner, first as a presidential candidate and then as running mate, till the eve of the PDP convention.
From Obasanjo’s book, the screening committee dumped Odili despite the fact that he showed “a lot of commitment and loyalty to the party”, because “for some inexplicable reasons, he does not enjoy the support from other governors.” Of course, because they fund the party, governors were important and would still be important, even in the current race.
But in a government where the President was famous for running dissenters, including governors out of town, to suggest that his choice was hindered by gubernatorial mushy-mushy is laughable. Not Obasanjo.
The unstated reason appears to have been Odili’s “unacceptability to foreign missions because of spurious allegations of corruption”, not to mention the fact that he knew a bit too much and had done a bit too much with the President to be allowed to cash his IOU.
Three, the history of presidential candidates also favours late, sometimes, unexpected and even unprepared entrants. For some reasons, the system appears to abhor preparation and readiness.
Obafemi Awolowo, perhaps one of the most prepared for the office for which reason Odumegwu Ojukwu described him as “the best president Nigeria never had”, contested twice for the position. Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, who is perhaps next to Awolowo, at least for resilience and organisation, also never got it.
On the contrary, from Shehu Shagari to Obasanjo and from Umaru Yar’Adua to Jonathan, accidental candidates have had an edge, making you wonder if there’s something about the office that cannot coexist with preparation. Even Buhari, who cried a river after three failed attempts, only got elected at his fourth, when he was thought to have given up.
Of course, there would always be room for surprises and outliers and any of the over 35 aspirants in the field could buck the trend. Also, it means little to the cabal that in spite of its best efforts and elaborate care to control the process, things still go wrong, sometimes consuming it in its own experiments. Babangida, for example, misjudged Obasanjo, both as candidate and later as president; the same way Obasanjo misjudged Yar’Adua and was already regretting his role in the late president’s emergence before he died.
The selection default mode appears to be serviceability to the appointors. Usefulness to the country or the task at hand is incidental. Whatever happens in the next few weeks, just as surely as the apple doesn't fall far away from the tree, it’s improbable that history would disappoint.

Plus-size Passenger Divides Online Opinions For Slamming Airline After Struggling To Fit In Seat, Use The Toilet
A woman has divided opinion after documenting her experience of flying with Ryanair as a plus-size passenger in a viral video. Kirsty Leanne shared the video with her TikTok followers, and soon found that people had differing opinions on her situation.
The 29-year-old, from Shropshire, was given a middle seat on the budget airline flight, and had to ask for a seatbelt extender due to her size. She said she struggled to fit in the plane's narrow aisle, Manchester Evening News reports.
Kirsty was travelling from London Stansted to Hamburg last Thursday (April 21) for a conference and returned five days later. She said she could "feel the stares of people" as she approached her seat, but was lucky enough to have a spare seat next to her on the one-and-a-half-hour flight, which made her more comfortable.
Kirsty said: "The first issue I faced was walking down the plane aisle, I was one of the last people on the plane as I was running a little late so I felt the stares of people and all I could think was that they didn't want me to sit next to them. I got to my seat and thankfully the one next to it was empty, giving me a little more room."
She said she didn't have much legroom but she also had a bag underneath her seat which reduced the space she had. "It was definitely manageable," she admitted. "I was going to use the tray table to do some work on the way but when I couldn't put it down, I quickly decided that it was not going to happen," she added.
Kirsty decided against using the bathroom, describing it as "probably one of the world's smallest".
She said: "I was running late, I didn't get to use the bathroom before I boarded so I thought I'd chance using the one on the flight but unfortunately, it's probably one of the smallest bathrooms I've ever seen and I decided against trying to squeeze in."
Kirsty said she was "comfortable" in her seat but added: "I think it's because the seat next to me was empty and I had that little bit of extra space." She said she needed to use a seatbelt extender which is "something I am used to" and said the Ryanair flight attendant handed it to her "discreetly" upon boarding.
In the TikTok, Kirsty can be seen showing her computer screen where she has been put in a middle seat and then the amount of room she has on the day. She also shared a snap of the seatbelt extender and captioned the clip "Flying Ryanair with no upgrades."
The video has been viewed more than one million times and has racked up over 4,700 likes so far, but users are divided on the issue. Some people insist Kirsty deserves to fly comfortably, while others feel she only has herself to blame.
One person commented: “What is everyone's problem? she's not hurting anyone, just showing her struggle with travel and how people in the same position can make it work!"
Another said: "Why are the comments so rude? She never said she was blaming the airline she is just showing you her experience travelling. Do you girl, love the video."
Someone else added: “People saying that it's so easy to just lose weight. Some people have diseases and metabolism issues and it would be difficult for them to do so though.”
Another added: “Ppl acting like being plus size is a choice/something to be ashamed of?"
However, critics argued that planes shouldn’t have to accommodate her. One user said: “Acting like it's their fault," while another said: "This should be a massive wake up call." Someone else said: “Honey it's not the airlines fault.”
Blogger Kirsty shares her adventures on her travel blog, Plus Size Travel Too, where she talks about travelling as a plus-size person and says the experience is less than comfortable for larger people.
How I Found Out I'd Be Buhari's Running Mate — Vice-President Osinbajo
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has explained how he was selected as the running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the build-up to the 2015 elections.
Osinbajo, while addressing the State House press corps on Wednesday at his official residence, explained that he was working on a case in Abuja as a lawyer when he got the good news.
According to him, Rauf Aregbesola, the current Minister of Interior, was the one who informed him of the party’s decision around 1:00 am on December 18, 2014.
Bola Tinubu, former Lagos governor, is said to have played a role in picking Osinbajo as Buhari’s running mate.
Premium Times quoted him as saying, “I was working on the case at Peniel Apartments in Abuja on December 18, 2014, when at about 1:00 am in the morning, I received a call from Rauf Aregbesola that they were coming to Lagos to pick me.
“I said I was in Abuja. He said ‘good because you have been nominated as the vice-presidential candidate’ and I said that’s how you nominate people?
Osinbajo said Aregbesola alongside Ibikunle Amosun, a former governor of Ogun state, took him to meet with Buhari who was the All Progressives Congress’ candidate at the time.
Osinbajo, who is seeking the presidential ticket of the APC, said he was fully prepared to take a shot at the presidency.
He further stated that there were only a few people who have the kind of experience he has to be president of the country.
Nigerian Political Parties Should Zone Presidential Ticket To Axis Of Competence Not Ethnicity — Fredrick Nwabufo
Fredrick Nwabufo
Nigerian journalist and columnist, Fredrick Nwabufo, has advised political parties in the country to zone presidential tickets to the axis of competence, character and capacity and not on a rotational basis to different regions.
Nwabufo while appearing on Village Square Africa TV, said zoning the presidential ticket is the same problem the country has been having, selecting leaders based on sentiments, religion and ethnicity.
Fredrick Nwabufo
There has been clamour in different parts of the country for the presidential tickets of political parties to be zoned to a particular region, particularly the South-East region.
But Nwabufo said zoning based on sentiments has not done the country any good.
He said, "It is an interesting time; I believe we will have an election in 2023 where an incumbent president will not be running, and it makes it much more interesting because it is an open ticket.
"Any party or anybody can take it because the power of incumbency is limited in this case. We have clamours for political parties to cede the presidential ticket to the south, and of course, it has been a back and forth. There are arguments for and against that.
"Personally, I believe what we should be talking about now is competence. Political parties should zone their presidential tickets to the geography of competence.
"If I should rephrase that, political parties should zone their presidential tickets to the axis of competence, capacity and character.
"This is the problem we have had over the years. We emphasise ethnicity and religion. Some of the presidential hopefuls that have shown interest have been toeing that path.
"We have a problem of putting emphasis on what should be secondary and not on primary matters of competence, character, ability, antecedents and proven track record -- which should ordinarily be the issues that should guide the 2023 elections.
"But unfortunately, we are seeing religion and ethnicity being the topmost issues in this season. The questions are — what has zoning done for us over the years? How has zoning changed Nigeria?
''The problem is when you cede a presidential ticket to a particular zone on the basis of 'it is our turn', the person who is coming to contest is coming to represent his region and not Nigerians.
"We should be talking about a Nigerian president not an Igbo president. That is why I totally repudiate the phrase — Igbo presidency — it is wrong to say Igbo presidency. These are some of the things we need to correct.
"We need a Nigerian president not a president of the south-east, the south-west or the north. The president will represent all Nigerians; that will be for all Nigerians.
"We have been through this path before. When you start ceding or start amplifying ethnic agenda and issues, the person who emerges will want to favour his own side of the country because he believes that he is at the presidency to represent his region."
Nigeria’s Transportation Minister Wants To Run For President While Kidnapped Train Passengers Are Still Missing One Month After– Christian Association Knocks Amaechi
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State has knocked the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, for declaring to run for President while persons abducted by gunmen during an attack on a Kaduna-bound train remain in captivity after 30 days.
The victims were abducted when bandits attacked an Abuja-Kaduna train on March 28.
Eight passengers were killed during the train attack, while a yet-to-be-confirmed number of persons were kidnapped.
Rev Joseph John Hayab Chairman, CAN Kaduna State, in a statement on Thursday urged the government to rescue the kidnapped Nigerians.
The statement read, “Since then, it is now 30 days of agony, sleepless nights, lamentation, shedding of tears, and psychological anguish for the victims, the members of their immediate and extended families, people of conscience, and many well-wishers.
“Sadly, despite acknowledging the misfortune caused by the attacks by those responsible for protecting lives and property, the head of the ministry responsible for rail transport has not shown enough empathy towards families or made plausible efforts to actualize the freedom of the abducted from the terrorists.
“The most essential ingredient of democracy is freedom and security but Nigerians are enduring a varied meaning of democracy. Consequently, CAN Kaduna State frowns at the way these families have been left on their own, especially the lack of adequate and encouraging proof from the government and the agency responsible for rail transportation to douse their fears.
“As part of utter disregard, not the managing Director of NRC nor the Hon Minister of Transport, who should have resigned and tendered a public apology by now for his or their failure, has acknowledged their oversight in averting the incident.
“Instead, while innocent citizens are held captive for no offence, and at great risk for their safety, some individuals in charge of the transport industry, throwing decency to the wind, are mounting podiums, declaring to vie to be Nigeria’s next President. For the records, the concerned individuals involved must be reminded that Nigerians are not insane to reward failure with the presidency.
“CAN, thus, on the 30th day of painful remembrance of the train attack and aggressive kidnap of lawful travellers who boarded the train call on all Christians in Kaduna State and beyond, with people of goodwill, to intensify prayers for the victims and their families and to continue to speak out till everyone is safely released and back home to their families.”
Buhari Government Unable To Rescue Missing Soldiers Is Deploying Troops To Save Alleged Missing Cows – IPOB
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has taken a swipe at the Nigerian government for mobilising troops in search of missing cows in the region when many soldiers are nowhere to be found.
In a statement by Emma Powerful, the IPOB's spokesperson, the group described the move as a shameful one, noting that while several Nigerian citizens have been kidnapped and still missing, the Muhammadu Buhari government is searching for cows.
The group further noted that the deployment of troops in search of cows was simply a means for the Nigerian soldiers to invade the South-East “to clear the way for the Fulani jihadists and terrorists to invade the region and take over the land”.
It warned that all indigenous people in Nigeria must be on alert, alleging that Fulani jihadists are planning to start their conquest of the country by first penetrating the South East region.
IPOB stated, “We, the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to raise the alarm over the deployment of terrorists in the South East region under the guise of security agents by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“The Fulani-controlled Government of Nigeria has started once again to deploy more military and police personnel to South East to clear the way for the Fulani jihadists and terrorists to invade the region and take over the land.
“We are calling on every indigenous tribe in Nigeria to be prepared because their plan is to start with South East and pursue their conquest to other regions. So, nobody should think that their own region is free from these jihadists.
“This is their agenda of 200 years ago which they planned to actualise in 2022 but we must resist them. The Nigerian terrorist nation and its security agencies raised a false alarm of missing 10 to 300 cows. This is only a smokescreen to invade our land They think we are fools, but they will fail as they used to fail.
"Since Fulani bandits and terrorists masquerading as herdsmen started invading ancestral Communities in Nigeria and killing innocent citizens without provocation, the latest being the Benue incident where over 20 folks were slaughtered one day, how many of the perpetrators have been brought to book? Now they alleged that cows are missing and they are deploying troops in search of it.
“The global world should take note of the plans of these jihadists in security uniforms in Nigeria. Furthermore, the world must look into the constant killing of innocent citizens in the south Eastern States without cause.
“Nigeria security agencies have mapped out this region for total destruction and extermination. We beg the world to come to our rescue because we are under serious attack.
“The fictitious allegation of killing 10 to 300 Fulani cows is totally false information. The Nigeria Joint Task Force, JTF could not rescue Biafrans kidnapped and chased by Fulani terrorist herdsmen who are behind the criminalities in Enugu, Abia and some parts of Imo States, but now they want to rescue cows.
“They could not rescue even soldiers and other security operatives kidnapped by Fulani bandits in the North but they are mobilising to rescue alleged missing cows. What a country with missing soldiers but deploying troops for missing cows!
“Fulani bandits and terrorists have resorted to kidnapping as a lucrative job and means of livelihood almost every day they attack and kidnap Biafrans along Arondizuogu, Okigwe, Isiukwuato, Uturu and Lokpanta roads. Soldiers have never been deployed to go after them.
“Nigeria Government and its compromised security agents did not provide security for these innocent citizens but now troops are being deployed to search for cows.”
Gunmen Attack Home Of Jigawa APC Governorship Aspirant In Kano
Gunmen on Wednesday attacked the Kano residence of a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governorship aspirant in Jigawa State, Farouk Adamu Aliyu.
The gunmen, said to be about 10, attacked the house on Babura Road in the Nasarawa area of the Kano metropolis around 2 am, Daily Trust reports.
It was gathered that though the gunmen failed to gain access into the main house, one of the security guards was injured.
The gateman was said to have been cut with a machete while the others were tied up.
The cries of the injured gateman were said to have alerted the neighbours who then called the police.
The APC chieftain was, however, said to be away during the time of the attack.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the police command in Kano, SP Haruna Abdullahi Kiyawa, said as soon as the police received the emergency call through their distress number, the commissioner of police, Samaila S. Dikko, deployed the tactical team of Operation Puff Adder to the scene.
He said, “Seeing the presence of the police, the armed robbers took to their heels. However, an investigation has commenced to arrest all the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.”
