Chicoco Film and Drama Festival

The Chicoco film and drama festival was designed to use the audiovisual and cultural platform to educate people of the Niger Delta on sustainable non-violent advocacy in the region. The initiative was supported by PCF, CMAP, and implemented in partnership with DAWN in Creeks and other partner NGOs working in the region. The activity comprised of the following components in each of the delivery locations

a) Roadshows and Rallies

b) Musical Concerts and Cultural Displays

c) Film Screenings and Drama presentations.

The Chicoco Film and Drama Festival is supported by THE PRINCE CLAUS FONDS. It will be using an audiovisual, cultural and drama outlet to educate, inform and build the awareness of community people, youths and the general public around the issues of conflict resolution, Non violence, human right advocacy , environmental rights, sustainable development and durable peace.

Little action has been taken to clean up pollution caused by oil production in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region, either by the government or Shell Oil, Amnesty International and other groups charged Monday.

UNEP Report Roundtable Meeting

A BRAINSTORM session was designed by the Media For Justice Project (MFJP) with an aim of dicussing possible ways to compel the FG to implement the recommendations contained in the UNEP report. The constant non implementation of the report can be likened to the passing of a death sentence on the people of the Niger Delta. We Must continue to advocate for its implementation in 2014... Together we Shall prevail.

AMNESTY INTL and CEHRD Faults SPDC on JIVs

Shell has manipulated oil spill investigations in Nigeria, with the company’s claims on oil pollution in the region deeply suspect and often untrue, said Amnesty International and the Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD).
