Ken Saro Wiwa Celebration 2014

In 1990, Saro-Wiwa began devoting most of his time to human rights and environmental causes, particularly in Ogoniland. He was one of the earliest members of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP), which advocated for the rights of the Ogoni people.

Chicoco Film and Drama Festival

This is a project documentation of the Chicoco Film and drama festival, which was supported by the Prince Claus Funds (PCF) and other local and international organizations. The project focused on creating awareness among local Niger delta communities on alternative means of advocacy that are saustainable and non violent in nature and execution.

VIDEO: Whose Waterfronts?

This video was made in partnership with life-long residents of the Afikpo waterfront in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria who participated in our trainings and who were equipped with camera-enabled cell phones. The video represents a maturation of the Media for Justice Project towards more participant-made co-productions. Our view is that the more people equipped and trained to make media in their communities, the more their ideas, aspirations, and takes on life will be shared and heard.

VIDEO: Land grabbing and Militarization in Ogoni

On June 12th, Goteh Keenam and Dambani Kuenu, two young Ogoni men from Zor-Sogho community in Rivers state, Nigeria were shot dead by policemen. The two were protesting ongoing attempts by the State government to smuggle the Bori Camp Military Barracks, which houses the Second Amphibious Brigade in Port Harcourt into Ogoni territory.

Sogho Children Speak Out Against Land Grabbing

Children from the Ogoni Community of Sogho in Khana LGA, Rivers State speak out against the government's plans to take land in their community.

The Rivers government is claiming that the land will be used for a mechanized banana plantation, but this is at odds with the fact that military surveyors were sent to survey the land, lending credence to the rumor that the real objective is to re-site the Bori Camp barracks in Ogoniland
